KNPC spends USD 2.93 bln for LNG-importing facilities
KUWAIT, May 31 (KUNA) -- The cost to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) importing facilities by state-run Kuwait National Petroleum Co. (KNPC), is USD 2.93 billion, said Abdulhakeem Ismail, manager of the project.
At a forum organized on Tuesday to discuss this vital importation project, Ismail said the project involves building a re-gasification facility with a daily output of 3 billion-cubic meter liquefied gas and eight LNG storage tanks in Al-Zour, 90 kilometers south of Kuwait City, the capital city of Kuwait.
It also involves constructing a number of coastal facilities, added the project manager.
The project is slated for completion in 2021, he said, noting that it will reduce the cost of fuel used in power stations and in operating water desalination plants, among other things.
