据外媒伦敦6月9日消息，石油巨头英国石油公司(BP PLC, B)周四宣布在埃及东尼罗河三角洲的Baltim南部开发租赁区域有新的天然气发现。并表示公司计划利用现有的基础设施加快此次发现资源的开发，争取早日启动生产。
拥有Baltim南部开发租赁区50%权益的BP称，该天然气井已经钻至3,750米深，在高质量墨西拿砂岩中探测到厚达62米的天然气储藏。
埃尼公司通过其子公司IEOC运营该气井，并持有Baltim南部开发租赁区另外50%的权益。该井由Petrobel钻探，该公司是IEOC和埃及通用石油公司组建的合资公司。

BP Announces New Gas Discovery in Egypt's East Mediterranean

LONDON--Oil giant BP PLC (BP.LN) Thursday announced a new gas discovery in the Baltim South Development lease in the East Nile Delta of Egypt, and said it plans to use existing infrastructure to accelerate development of the discovery, and expedite early production start-up.
BP, which has a 50% share in the Baltim development lease, said the well was drilled to a total depth of 3,750 meters and penetrated 62 meters of gas in high-quality Messinian sandstones.
ENI SpA (ENI.MI), through its subsidiary IEOC, is the operator of the well and holds the remaining 50%. The well was drilled by Petrobel, a joint venture between IEOC and the state partner Egyptian General Petroleum Corp.
