Upstream Oil Spending Down 40% Since 2014
Upstream oil and gas capital expenditure has fallen by 40% since 2014, according to Morgan Stanley. In a note, the bank cites estimates from Norway's Rystad Energy that says global upstream capex was about $900 billion in 2014, but has fallen to about $535 billion this year. The decline is equal to the oil industry's entire 2005 capex spending on upstream in real terms.
